Vision, Purposes and Values
Bolton Street Angels is a Christian ministry in Bolton Town Centre.
As a member organisation of Christians Together in Bolton Town Centre, we feel our faith calls us to be alongside people - to welcome, support and love the stranger. This is the ministry of Jesus, which he calls us to continue.
Our aim is to promote the safety and wellbeing of all those enjoying, and working within, Bolton's night time economy. We do this by providing volunteers who will walk the streets and run the SafeSpace nite cafe.
The Bolton Street Angels patrol is there to engage with people and encourage them to enjoy their night out safely and sensibly.
The SafeSpace Cafe provides a place for people to rest, enjoy non-alcoholic drinks and snacks, and also provide a listening ear and appropriate support to anyone who might need it.
Our purpose is not to do the work of the Police, neither do we attempt to 'convert' anyone. Our purpose is simply to be there alongside people, and to provide appropriate support for those who, for whatever reason, might need it.
Bolton Street Angels is guided by the following values:
All people are children of God and should be treated with respect and dignity, regardless of faith, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, background or ability.
Therefore the Bolton Street Angels, and its ministry, is for all people, without discrimination.
Therefore we will treat all people who use the SafeSpace Café with respect, and in a non-judgmental manner.
Volunteers need not be Christians but must uphold the values and ethos of Bolton StreetAngels. We will always seek to work with any appropriate partners and agencies that share our aims of promoting the safety and wellbeing of all those taking part in Bolton's night time economy.
